Assisting poor kids with their education
THE Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi has sponsored RM5,000 for The Star’s UPSR workshop for Years Five and Six pupils at KDU Penang University College.
Its president Datuk Seri Khoo Keat Siew said the clan was happy to contribute to the cause.
“Khoo Kongsi has a long history of supporting children from low income families, especially in education.
“This is a laudable initiative and is a bold and effective way of helping the community.
“We believe education can lead to the betterment of oneself, and we are certain that this workshop will be beneficial to those who take part,” he said after presenting a mock cheque of RM5,000 to Star Media Group Audience Management senior manager (north) Oun Sui Lengat the Khoo Kongsi in Penangyesterday.
The workshop, to be participated by 120 pupils, will beconducted by qualified and experienced trainers who will share tips on acing the exam from 8am to 5.30pm today.
Oun said the registration fee for the workshop was RM120, adding that the payment would cover lunch, two tea breaks, notes and certificate of participation.
During the workshop, pupils from the SJK(C) schools will learn how to answer questions quickly and correctly and avoid common mistakes.
They will also be taughttechniques to help them score higher marks.
